KML002 - Neon Lights

KML002
Dear World, I’d like the share with you this special 4-track EP that nicely encapsulates a broader range of my musical styles. Having been created at different chapters of my life, each track tells a story of its own. I’m excited to share with you a glimpse of my personal experiences, and I thank you for holding space for a brief moment to hear me. Sincerely, Hyunji From Berlin, to the World

A1 / Neon Lights
There’s something about hearing great DJs spin their magic that stirs up some kind of spark in you. Inspirations and ideas start to fly around, melodies pop in and out of the spatial auditory bubble around me. This experience was felt after hearing Hernan Cattaneo and Patrice Bäumel doing a splendid back-to-back at Stereo back in November 2023. In that moment of newly-sparked inspirations popped the bass line of Neon Lights, and the rest built into the track that it is now.

A2 / Trapped
Do you sometimes feel like you can’t escape yourself? “Stuck” with your self? Trapped in your own awareness? And that there’s nothing we can do about it? You want to scream, but scream from what? You want to let go, but let go from what? Pondering endless questions and contemplations feels frustrating, but somehow peaceful at the same time.

B1 / Meditation
This track is somewhat of a continuation of “Trapped”. From feeling like a bad trip, to grounding oneself. All it takes is bringing your attention back to your breath as you say “inhale, I breathe in - exhale, I breathe out”.

B2 / Audacity
This one is a different style from my usual club-focused music. Oftentimes I will have ideas for vocals popping into existence and build a new song from that. I may not always have an idea of where the creative process takes me with that, but I see where it takes me. “Audacity” was one of those productions.

KML001 - Keep My Letters

Tantum & Hyunji-A
from berlin, to the world

KML001
Initially founded in 2024 by Tantum, as an event series in Berlin, KML001 marks the beginning of something new. This new label will be the home for the music of its core artists Tantum & Hyunji-A, showcasing their music as well as hosting like-minded musicians. A platform for artists that dare to think differently.

A1 / Keep My Letters
What better way to start the label other than a very personal track that embodies our connection through music. We wrote this track in 2024 as a closing track for the first KML event where we hosted Guy J in Berlin. Originally written in Montreal, we've managed to capture the magic in anticipation of something new. Hyunji-A's intimate Korean lyrics describe what this project stands for. We decided to keep it as close to the original sketch as possible - sometimes things don't have to be complicated.

A2 / Keep My Letters (Simon Vuarambon Remix)
Simon is a close friend of ours and we could not think of anyone better to remix the title track for the label launch. He not only understands our vision but also puts his talent to use, crafting a soulful melodic twist on 'Keep My Letters' . We are proud to call Simon our friend.

B1 / Keep My Letters (Tantum's Return To Sender Remix)
Tantum's 'Return To Sender Remix' is a trippy twist, teasing the edgier side of the sonic palette that this label will stand for.

B2 / Mirror
This track is like the dark, evil twin of the title track. It was our first actual collab track, so of course it found its way on the debut EP . It's a proper secret weapon on the dancefloor. Try it out for yourself if you dare.
